Abandon Ship!

Recently in the town I live, something interesting has finally happened. A huge boat, called “Ice Prince” sank off the Dorset coast (25 miles from Portland Bill). It has taken several days for the sea to slowly carry all 5,000 tons of wood to the Worthing coastline. Police have warned that anybody taking timber from the beach risks a fine of up to £2500, so don’t do it!

Here are some photos so I can show you what I mean.

As you can see, there is a lot of wood.. They reckon that it could take weeks to move all of the wood away. The force of the incoming wood was so great that it even damaged the existing structured on the beach. Even the pier has been closed until further notice.
