The new version of Firefox (3) has begun to spread around the industry, with some disappointing results. Although there are a few new features, noticeably Gecko 1.9, and the URL bar’s striking new functionality, there is just not enough changes to give it an integer update, to 3. If I was in charge, I would call it 2.2 (or even 2.1) or something to suggest a medium magnitude feature change. The only reason for it is the new Gecko implementation, for the simplicity for the end user.

And another of the many innovations I have (and have yet to) stumble across is the new declarative (more on that later) language from Microsoft. This is what appears to be a direct aim at combating Adobe’s hopes with AIR, and Flex both in one. The similarities become even more obvious when you see more in depth details on the way the script is coded.

I’ve just got back from an incredibly long session of the new version of Minesweeper. That was a cruel and patronising game. When it said ‘deceptively simple’ in the description, I had no idea how (concerning) long it would take to complete it. Damn. Microsoft beat me again.

Why did I never see this feature before? I admit, my resolution doesn’t do this justice but that’s hardly my point. If you’ve found another quite cool feature and you want to share it. However, I don’t blame you if you don’t - this blog (since the move) seems to have lost it’s identity.. we’ll see if we can fix that..

So many people were highly sceptical at Microsoft’s latest attempt to broaden their horizons. Microsoft has long predicted its future as selling software, not as a package, but as a service.
